Late-breaking abstracts

Information for presenters

The Summit is now accepting late-breaking abstracts for oral presentations and poster presentations that offer new perspectives on health literacy research, policy and/or practice.

All late-breaking abstracts for the Global Health Literacy Summit should be submitted online via the abstract submission system. The deadline for submission for these abstracts is 31 July 2024. Abstracts received after closing, or submitted via other methods will not be accepted.

Types of presentations being accepted

Oral presentation/poster

Submissions in this category will be considered for inclusion in a 75-minute oral presentation or the poster session. For oral presentations, each speaker gets 10 minutes, including discussion.

Submission guidelines

Review the submission guidelines before accessing the abstract submission system.

Abstracts

  • Abstracts should cover original, scientific work that may or may not have already been
    published recently.

  • The official language of the Global Health Literacy Summit is English. Abstracts, posters, and presentations are, therefore, expected to be written and presented in English.

  • All abstracts have a word limit. Please check in advance which conditions apply to the format chosen.

  • All titles have a maximum of 20 words in lowercase, except for the first word, abbreviations, or acronyms. Please do not use capital letters only and avoid using abbreviations or acronyms. 

  • All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published in the digital abstract book and on the summit website prior to the summit.

Authors and presenters

  • The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of and approve the contents of the abstract before submission.

  • ​Submission of an abstract implies formal commitment by the designated presenting author to register for the conference and to present the abstract. However, registration is not required at the time of submission.

  • The corresponding author will receive all correspondence about the abstract. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that the presenting author also acts as corresponding author.

  • Please note that a maximum of two abstracts per presenting author can be submitted.

Submissions

  • There is no abstract submission fee.

  • Your abstract is not successfully submitted until you receive a confirmation e-mail after clicking the final submit button. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact helpdesk@klinkhamergroup.com.

  • The final submission form allows you to save your abstract as a draft in order to make changes prior to submission.

  • Abstract submissions should not include photos, graphics, and tables.

  • Abstracts may not be edited/updated after final submission.

  • All abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Program Committee and may be rejected or selected for poster instead of oral presentation.

  • The final submission form allows you to save your abstract as a draft in order to make changes prior to submission.

Topics & themes

The main theme of the Global Health Literacy Summit is "Health literacy for people and planet."

Abstracts on the general theme and related sub-themes are encouraged, in order to reflect the rich and diverse work of the IHLA membership and health literacy community.

When submitting the abstract, please indicate the two most relevant themes (1st and 2nd preference) from the list.
